この度、ルーニィへ初めてバルバラ・ルイージさんを迎え展覧会を開きます。
ニューヨーク、イタリア各地を巡回しての展覧会です。
本作「Akt. Ageless beauty」は、樹齢 1000 年を超えるオリーブの木と老境を迎えた人間のヌードを
「若いオリーブの木が良い実をつけるためには、樹齢の高い老木が必要。植物にも社会があるのです。 人間も同じ。」
とバルバラは言います。
老境に入った人間の皺とオリーブのうねる様子が対比され 見たこともない美しさを体現しています。
過去に、バイオリンも修めオーケストラでの演奏もするプロフェッショナルとしてのキャリアももつバルバラさん。
音符のようにシンプルに、白と黒で表現する彼女の作品は、日本の写真家・細江英公氏の影響を多大に受けており
本展には、細江氏のヌードを撮った作品も展示されます。
写真集も日本特別版として発行。会場で販売を予定しております。

For the first time in Japan and after the recent debut in New York, Lecce and Martina Franca (Italy),
Barbara Luisi presents her solo exhibition AKT curated by Manuela De Leonardis
at the Roonee 247 fine arts gallery in Tokyo under the patronage of the Italian Institute of Culture in Tokyo.
Her black and white photographs from the series Vita Aeterna were shot in Apulia in 2015 and 2016.
It is the artist’s ode to olive trees as protagonists of a thousand-year old history and incommensurable
human heritage, which is too often threatened by human kind.
This work is closely linked to the new photographs AKT – Ageless Beauty (2017),
focusing on the mature human body.
The work will be exhibited as platinum prints, prints on silk and washi paper,
including a triptych made in August 2017 as homage to the great Japanese photographer Eikoh Hosoe.
The epidermis, nodosity and the apparent fragility of bodies of all ages and races
that the photographer invites to sit for her, find a parallel full of refarences with animals and plants,
the living beings of the natural world. Like trees, individuals also pose in groups of two, three and four
“Trees need a social life,” says Barbara Luisi,
“the young ones are planted next to the older ones, to share vitality through their roots.”
The exhibition will be accompained by a limited edition book (Italian/English with Japanese translation)
designed by Giordano Santoro / Drusticamente with an essay by Manuela De Leonardis.
